Wildkogel, Austria, August 18th 2011 – The mountain bike freeride & trick mayhem “Suzuki Nine Knights 2011” is about to hit the Wildkogel Arena in Austria next week. A state of the art set-up with jumps up to 14 meters long and six meters high are promising the invited riders from around the globe – like Kurt Sorge (CAN), Andi Wittmann (GER), Bienvenido Alba (ESP), Yannick Granieri (FRA), Martin Soderstrom (SWE), Amir Kabbani (GER), Niki Leitner (AUT), Timo Pritzl (GER) or Geoff Gulevich (CAN) – all the thrills, chills and spills they can handle. The Nine Knights will be joined by some 'new breed' - riders that won the official “Wanna be a Knight’ video competition: Linus Sjoholm (SWE), Sam Reynolds (GBR), Pierre Eduard Ferry (FRA), Andreas Brewi (AUT), and John Alm Hogmann (SWE). The official highlight of the Suzuki Nine Knights 2011, “The MTB Joust Tournament” on Saturday, August 27th, is open to the public, so feel free to join this one-of-a-kind event. Nine Knights 2011 Andi Wittmann, his Nine Knights crew, as well as the team of the Wildkogelbahn and the „Hohe Tauern Aktiv“ association have been building the Nine Knights trails for six weeks now. The enormous effort of the course builders working each day in any and all weather conditions has been almost superhuman and greatly appreciated. The “Big Air Line” consists of a drop tower, a speed jump, and an awesome kicker. The starting tower looks like a small castle and shoots the riders into the line with a four meter step down, followed by speed check jumps 9.5 and 12 meters in length. The final double features two wooden take offs (both 3 meters high, but different transitions) and a monstrous dirt landing (6 meters elevation). The huge and extra wide landing provides the maximum amount of safety for jumps up to 14 meters long. The “Freeride Trail” offers a different MTB dimension for the knights with sick lines, hips, wallrides, northshores, drops and jumps. It can be called the pure trail fun counterpart of Suzuki Nine Knights’ big banger air line. Nine Knights 2011 The week-long session will be packed with several competitions unveiling the most worthy knights in the Nine Knights realm: The “Ruler of the Big Air(Castle)”, “Ruler of the Trail”, “Most progressive Rider”, best trick and even more will be judged by the riders themselves and crowned at the end of the week. Special photographing and filming sessions for the passionate supporters of mountain biking behind the lens like Harookz (CAN), Mattias Fredriksson (SWE), Markus Greber (GER), Stef Cande (FRA), Lars Scharl (GER), Felix Urbauer (GER), Vincent Saccomani (FRA) or Lukas Thielke (GER) round up the program and guarantee an unique visual experience. Nine Knights 2011 Building the set up video 2: Building the set up video 3: Stay tuned for session updates next week, featuring the best shots and videos of the raddest Suzuki Nine Knights 2011 action.
